Euronext: Cash activity falls but bonds shine

(CercleFinance.com) – Activity on Euronext’s cash markets fell again in October, but it rose sharply on the fixed income side, according to data released by the exchange operator.

As for the cash markets, the average daily transaction volume fell 20% compared to October 2022 and reached 2.38 million last month, showing a small increase of 2% compared to September.

However, in a press release, Euronext emphasizes that trading volumes in fixed income product markets continue to perform “very well”.

On bond platform MTS Cash, average daily volume jumped 76% compared to October 2022 to 27.83 million transactions, the most in nearly two years.

On MTS Repo, its inter-dealer interest rate trading system, average daily volume has risen 27% in adjusted terms since October 2022, marking the peak of activity since March 2020.

The IPO market remains particularly subdued, with only two new listings on Euronext in October compared to six in September and October 2022.
